Cryptocurrency mining rig manufacturer Canaan has announced the appointment of James Jin Cheng as its new CFO, following the resignation of his predecessor in February.

- Cheng was previously vice president of Chinese internet recruiting platform Zhaopin Ltd., which listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 2014 before being taken private in 2017.
- Cheng has also worked for Nokia and Chinese computer manufacturer Lenovo in senior finance and sales management positions.
- Canaan this year began to diversify beyond rig manufacturing, in June announcing that it would break ground on its own mining farm in Kazakhstan and set up a service center there.
